BTS Achieves 2.96 Million in Total Sales, Setting the Highest Record for Albums Released This Year
BTS achieved the highest album sales among releases this year.
On the 8th, Gaon Chart unveiled the '2022 First Half Album Chart,' where BTS topped the list with their album Proof, released on June 10. The album sold a total of 2,957,410 copies, making it the best-selling album of the year. On its first day alone, Proof sold over 2.15 million copies, with initial sales exceeding 2.75 million.
BTS also placed 12 albums in the chart's top 100. Love Yourself: Tear ranked 30th, Map of the Soul: Persona 31st, and Love Yourself: Answer 34th. On the same day, Proof received a 'Double Platinum' certification after surpassing 250,000 shipments in the Recording Industry Association of Japan’s June announcement.
Proof is an anthology album reflecting BTS' 9-year journey since their debut, featuring their thoughts on the past, present, and future.
